As a man, I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about makeup, but I've seen enough television in my lifetime to know that lipstick on men is a joke.
But NYX Cosmetics decided to take the gag seriously, and put out an ad with a bearded man wearing their product.
In order for advertising to work, we all need to have some sort of empathetic reaction to the marketing.
We need to see ourselves using the product.
For example, advertising a car to a single guy who wants speed or a mom-of-three going grocery shopping feels very different.
Advertising lipstick to women using a guy in a beard?
Well, let's just say women weren't feeling it.
Some tried to reason out why the makeup company would do it, but were quickly shot down.
If you're wondering how any of these companies still have money to pander to less than 1% of the population, you've just got to follow the ownership trail.
L'Oréal bought NYX in 2014, and Nestle owns 20% of L'Oréal. As a percentage of revenue of L'Oréal and Nestle, NYX is probably less than 1%, but the woke division has near bottomless pockets thanks to its parent companies.
Still, it's worth fighting the fight and not letting women get erased. Big companies come and go. Women make up 50% of the population after all (no matter what the wokies would have you believe).
That's a big purse you ladies are swinging, and it can take down even the biggest of corporations.
And I'll stand in solidarity with you.
