I want to know how this lunatic made it this far before anyone stopped her.
Laurel Eich, 42, told the Washoe County sheriff she extracted 13 teeth from a clueless dental patient on May 3. She also swiped $22,861 in cash and checks from the dental office. All it took to break in was a broken window for Eich to wreak havoc.
Even more horrifying is that this (allegedly) wasn't the only time this lady performed illegal tooth extractions!
May I suggest a straight jacket?
Eich used to work at this dental office, but not as a dentist. Thank God she at least used anesthetic in the process of her tooth-yanking spree on the poor guy. You've got to feel really bad for the dude. He lost 13 teeth for no good reason!
I don't want to kick him while he's down, but I do wonder what was going through the oblivious patient's mind. How many teeth did it take for the him to realize that this "dentist" might be up to no good?
Maybe this kind of nightmare is more common than we'd like to think. Just the other day, a hospital in Ohio admitted they gave a kidney to the wrong patient, but this is the opposite type of horror story. Rather than wrongly giving something to a patient, stuff was wrongly removed from a patient.
Thankfully, Eich was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of burglary (one count each of grand larceny), as well as conspiracy to commit burglary and perform surgery on another without a medical license.
She could face anything between 2 and 20 years in prison and $2,000-$5,000 in fines.
I guess this story makes her the antithesis of the Joker's "Let's put a smile on that face" line from The Dark Knight.
I wonder who would win in that matchup.
