A refugee from war torn Ukraine was just handed an 11-year sentence for strangling his ex-wife to death in August 2024 because she called him a sissy for wearing women's clothes.

Oleksandr H. argued his wife was the aggressor by calling him mean names because of his gender preferences.

Sinkova and Oleksandr had built a new life in Germany after fleeing Ukraine with their three children in 2022. Sinkova had quickly adjusted well to life in Germany, learning the language and training to be a yoga instructor. She became an advocate for other refugees, and held inspirational workshops targeted at women in need.

Privately, however, Sinkova remained trapped in a toxic relationship with Oleksandr. She told friends and relatives she feared for her safety and repeatedly contacted authorities, saying her ex-husband often prevented her and the children from leaving the apartment.

Things escalated from there and in 2023, Oleksandr began his public "coming out" by wearing women's clothing in public, fulfilling a cross-dressing transvestite fantasy.

By August 2024, he had increasingly become violent.

Just hours before her death, she posted a video to Instagram showing bruises on her body and reporting that Oleksandr had blocked the apartment doors and dragged her away from the exit when she tried to leave. She had managed to call the police, but officers didn't stay long after responding to the call. Within hours of their visit, Sinkova would be dead.

Here is the video she posted before her death.

The now-convicted killer tried to stage the scene to look like self-defense, but police evidence showed he had tampered pretty substantially with the crime scene, and the court agreed.

He hid his wife's naked body from his children in the laundry room with a duvet cover, then took them to his workplace and told them he had killed their mother.

But the murderer tried to frame his wife as the aggressor for not accepting his preferred gender identity, a strategy that all too often works in court these days.

During the trial, Oleksandr tried to present himself as the victim of Sinkova's intolerance, claiming she had derided him with insults, including calling him a 'sissy' and 'f*ggot' when he wore women's clothes. The court ultimately rejected his claims, with presiding Judge Peter Koerfers calling the killing 'an utterly senseless act that left three children half-orphans.'

He strangled a woman to death and then tried to play victim.

He will now spend 11 years behind bars.

The children, who overheard the attack, are now undergoing therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder. One described her father as a 'monster' and told a therapist she had wanted to help her mother but was too terrified to leave her room.

The worst.
