Democratic Senator Joe Manchin will not seek reelection in 2024. This is what he had to say.

Here's another (probably missed) opportunity for Republicans to pick up a seat in the Senate.

Yes, Manchin is leaving the game, and he's doing it with class. He will not be running for reelection in 2024. This statement right here, particularly the second paragraph, jumps off the page at me.

After months of deliberation and long conversations with my family, I believe in my heart of hearts that I have accomplished what I set out to do for West Virginia. I have made one of the toughest decisions of my life and decided that I will not be running for re-election to the United States Senate.

But what I will be doing is traveling the country and speaking out to see if there is an interest in creating a movement to mobilize the middle and bring Americans together.

Not gonna lie, I wish more politicians would take this route of seeking out the American middle. It's definitely there, and we're all not as different as the media makes us out to be, even though some of us identity as Republicans and some Dems.

One last line from Manchin and then I'll let you go.

I know our country isn't as divided as Washington wants us to believe. We share common values of family, freedom, democracy, dignity, and a belief that together we can overcome any challenge. We need to take back America and not let this divisive hatred further pull us apart. The public service has and continues to drive me every day. That is the vow that I made to my father over forty years ago, and I intend to keep that vow until my dying day. May God bless America, the great state of West Virginia, and each and every one of you.

Love it!

Though I still want Republicans to pick up that seat a year from now. K thanks.
