This was Charley Cooley's second arrest this year. He was released on $500 bond for a robbery charge back on November 11, because of course he was.
The police who have to deal with the judges:

Here's the story from the New York Post:
Kevin and Sarah Root described the terrifying early-morning encounter inside their southwest Denver home. The couple said the break-in happened around 3:30 a.m.
3:30, huh? Sounds like Charley Cooley is still quite the upstanding citizen. Glad they let him off on $500 bond.
Sarah immediately grabbed her phone to call 911 while her husband went to check the hallway.
...
Kevin said he shouted several times for the man to leave, but the intruder kept walking toward the rooms where their boys were sleeping.
'When he paused at the top of the stairs, I whipped open the door, jumped out and pushed him as hard as I could down the stairs,' he said.
Police arrived minutes later and took the suspect into custody. Sarah said it felt like forever as she stayed on the phone with dispatchers, watching the front door and trying to keep her son calm.

Important note here from Robby Starbuck:
Of course, then you'll probably be charged with a crime yourself...
Nobody was injured in the Root family, but the emotional recovery has been very tough, as you might expect. Maybe the judge will set bail a little higher this time, but don't count on it.
This is Colorado, after all. ๐
