Aussie doctors are scrambling to reattach this surfer’s leg after it got bitten off by a great white shark

Picture this: a sunny day in Australia, surfers catching waves, and then — bam! — a scene straight out of Jaws.

Kai McKenzie, a 23-year-old surfer, suddenly found himself on the menu for a 10-foot great white shark near Port Macquarie, New South Wales.

You'd think a shark attack would be enough excitement for one day, but there's more.

After the shark bit his leg off, Kai managed to ride a wave back to shore, and was saved by an off-duty cop who uses his dog's leash as a tourniquet.

But then, just when you think it can't get any crazier, Kai's severed leg washed up on the beach!

Guessing the shark lost his appetite?

Doctors are now in a race against time, figuring out if they can reattach the returned limb, with the help of over $49,000 raised on GoFundMe to help with his medical bills.

Kai, who is stable in hospital, only just returned to surfing after recovering from a neck injury. Maybe it's time to cool it with the dangerous hobbies? May I suggest darts?

A GoFundMe for Kai can be found here.
