Don't tempt me with a good time! NBC panics cuz DeSantis says he'll shut down the IRS along with the education, commerce, and energy departments

Let's see what the latest corporate left-wing media freak-out over "Florida Man Bad" is all about.

Umm, guys, I was already probably going to vote for the guy. You don't have to convince me.

The evil bad dictator is going to... dismantle multiple arms of the administrative state and shrink the size of government while regulating our lives less. What a totalitarian!

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that if he is elected president he would seek to close four federal agencies as part of an effort to reduce the size of government.

"We would do Education, we would do Commerce, we'd do Energy, and we would do IRS," DeSantis said in an interview with Fox News' Martha MacCallum when he was asked whether he favored closing any agencies.

That's the kind of talk I like to see from my politicians, Ronny D!

Now let's start talking about abolishing the FBI and CIA while we're here.

Actually, it's a long list. I'll take what I can get though.

"If Congress will work with me on doing that, we'll be able to reduce the size and scope of government," he added. "If Congress won't go that far, I'm going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life."

I love it.

  • Option 1: Destroy the deep state.
  • Option 2: Use the power apparatus to destroy wokeness.

This is exactly how things get done.

And it's precisely what DeSantis has done in Florida. He hasn't backed down on any of his efforts to fight wokeness.

"We need to fundamentally re-constitutionalize the government," DeSantis said Wednesday. "We talked about draining the swamp in 2016; that didn't happen. I think the better analogy is breaking the swamp."

DeSantis's pitch is clear: Trump had his chance to drain the swamp. It didn't happen. Now it's his turn to try to break the swamp and dismantle the deep state.

It's up to Republicans to decide if he gets that chance.
