There's an epidemic among our young people and it seems like no one is talking about it, considering how far-reaching it is.
A new CDC study on mental health among teenagers revealed this one statistic that is completely shocking and should wake people up:
10% of high schoolers in the United States attempted suicide in 2021.
1 out of 10.
There's no way to even begin to unpack how serious this is.
From the Christian Post:
Poor mental health and suicidal ideation and attempts have increased among high school students over the last decade, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than half of girls struggle with "persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness."
The CDC's findings are reflected in the latest Youth Risk Behavior Survey prepared by the health agency's Division of Adolescent and School Health. The report highlights trends in adolescent health and well-being using data collected every two years among a nationally representative sample of U.S. high school students.
According to the CDC, suicidal ideation is trending up and LGBT students are more likely than any other demographic to consider suicide.
The reason for this will be framed by many as a result of bullying or misunderstanding, when, in fact, society has never tolerated or encouraged LGBT individuals more.
The most accepting society in history is seeing more young people identify as a sexual or gender minority than at any time in history, and a majority of those students are also dealing with mental health issues that result in suicidal ideation.
These radical gender and sex ideologies are killing our young people.
More from the study:
In 2021, 42% of high school students felt so sad or hopeless almost every day for at least two weeks in a row that they stopped doing their usual activities. Female students were more likely than male students to experience persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. Hispanic and multiracial students were more likely than Asian, Black, and White students to experience persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. LGBQ+ students and students who had any same-sex partners were more likely than their peers to experience persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.
Maybe being in an environment where you are constantly told that you are oppressed and that there are invisible "systemic" forces plotting against you, creating a perpetual victim complex, isn't the best thing for kids.
But I'm sure the takeaway from this study from the woke liberals is that we need to give government schools more money so they can combat mental health issues with "affirming" counselors who continue to preach the same gospel of victimhood.
It's a downward spiral and we are accelerating at a disturbing pace.
In 2021, 22% of high school students seriously considered attempting suicide during the past year. Female students were more likely than male students to seriously consider attempting suicide. Asian students were less likely than students from most other racial and ethnic groups to seriously consider attempting suicide. LGBQ+ students and students who had any same-sex partners were more likely than their peers to seriously consider attempting suicide...
In 2021, 18% of high school students made a suicide plan during the past year. Female students were more likely than male students to make a suicide plan. LGBQ+ students and students who had any samesex partners were more likely than their peers to make a suicide plan...
In 2021, 10% of high school students attempted suicide one or more times during the past year. Female students were more likely than male students to attempt suicide. Black students were more likely than Asian, Hispanic, and White students to attempt suicide. LGBQ+ students and students who had any same-sex partners were more likely than their peers to attempt suicide.
If you tell kids they are helpless victims and preach to them about how the entire world is set up for their failure and to hate them and their identities, which you are encouraging them to adopt, it's going to have a negative effect.
