There have been many different stories and theories about why Donald Trump decided to run for president, but this one from Stephen A. Smith takes the cake.
On his ESPN show yesterday, the ultra-lefty Stephen A. Smith claimed that Donald Trump confided in Smith that if the NFL owners conspired to keep The Donald from purchasing the Buffalo Bills he would run for president to spite them.
Watch:
We'll skip right past Smith's ridiculous contention that it was Donald Trump who politicized Colin Kaepernick's hyper-partisan and disgraceful protest of the American flag and focus on the phone call.
In 2014 Donald Trump wanted to purchase the Buffalo Bills and... Donald Trump called yours truly, that would be me, and he said that he wanted to purchase the Buffalo Bills. And I'll never forget what he said to me.
He said, "If those owners screw me over... I'm gonna show them. I'm gonna get 'em all back. I'm gonna run for President of the United States."
That's what he said to me back in 2014.
They say living well is the best revenge. So if Trump did run for and win the presidency just to get back at NFL owners it's very impressive.
Smith then goes on to contend that the only reason Trump got involved in the Kaepernick debacle was to get back at the NFL owners who kept him out of their club.
The idea that Colin Kaepernick was just totally non-political and not just an anti-cop BLM partisan is ridiculous.
Smith really wants us to believe that Trump played up the Kaepernick issue because he wanted to exact revenge on NFL owners?
This Trump?
Maybe I'm crazy, but I think it's more likely Trump was offended by Kaepernick's protest because Trump loves America, like most average Americans, and thinks Kaepernick is a clown.
But maybe Stephen A. Smith is right. Trump went to all the trouble of becoming president and being completely slaughtered by the media for 4+ years all because he wanted revenge on the NFL.
What a deranged conspiracy.
