Farm animals in Switzerland may soon be granted constitutional rights to not be "intensively farmed"

Switzerland over there about to become a beacon for disenfranchised, downtrodden livestock everywhere:

Voters in Switzerland are set to decide whether to ban factory farming and modify laws to grant animals the constitutional right "not to be intensively farmed."

Under a new proposal that will be considered by Swiss voters over the weekend, the country would be required to implement laws that lower animal stocking rates and limit the importation of intensively farmed meat. The proposal has received mixed support, with national polling showing that 52% of voters oppose the ban, while 47% support it.

Proponents argue a ban would protect the environment by reducing farms' reliance on soya-based animal feed that has been linked to widespread deforestation. Animal rights groups have also championed the proposal, pushing for more humane conditions in the facilities where animals are held.

Now you know every farm animal in all of Sweden is gonna be creeping to the farmhouse window to peek the results as they roll in on TV:

Yeah, there's a slippery slope when you start giving animals "constitutional rights," but what a time to be alive, eh?

And yes, the country is dealing with the issue of devaluing human rights by trying to apply them to animals:

If animals are the same as humans, then humans are the same as animals, meaning humans become mere animals legally. When this happens, the very idea of inalienable human rights fades away into the same crimes against humanity seen throughout history.

I should also mention this: While there's plenty of good reason to avoid factory farms if you can, when you start legislating this way, you run the risk of (further) messing up the market in a time of supply-chain insanity and causing this:
