Well, I hate to say we all saw this coming ... but we all saw this coming.
Yesterday, a young teenager in Georgia shot up his school, killing two teachers and two fellow students, as well as hospitalizing nine others.
And, wouldn't you know it...
How many times have we seen this headline before? Almost as many times as we see a mass shooting like this. It seems like every single school shooter and mass killer is identified by the FBI and then nothing happens.
It happens so much that it's a popular meme:
FBI Atlanta said on social media Wednesday night that county authorities had interviewed the suspect last year about online threats to commit a school shooting.
According to FBI Atlanta, the FBI's National Threat Operations Center found that the posts came from Georgia, and 'the FBI's Atlanta Field Office referred the information to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for action.'
The sheriff's office interviewed the then-13-year-old boy and his father. The boy said he was not responsible for the threats. The father said he had hunting guns in the house, but that his son did not have 'unsupervised access to them,' FBI Atlanta said.
Here's the statement from the Atlanta FBI office.
What's the point of having these kids on your radar if you simply watch them go through with their plans?
To give the FBI a fair shake, just because a 13-year-old kid makes posts online doesn't mean that they have the jurisdiction to haul him off to jail to interrogate him or to press charges against him. You should be happy that our federal police do not (yet) have unlimited power.
That being said, the FBI has no problem conducting no-knock raids on old men with no Facebook followers who made jokes about assassinating Biden on their profiles ๐
Or pro-life dads who pushed down a violent man who threatened his young son outside an abortion clinic ๐
So if the FBI is willing to do that, why not at least make sure that local police and school administrators were keeping this kid under watch? Did they even share info with local authorities at all? That's the statement I'd like to see.
I mean, they can track down a grandma who took a photo while strolling through the Capitol on J6. They have no problem arresting people for praying at abortion mills. That Catholic dad? Under surveillance for saying "based" and "Christ is king." Your neighborhood soccer mom? Being investigated for criticizing her school board during Covid.
But potential school shooters?
