Ladies and gentlemen, we've got our first casualty of the California $20 fast food minimum wage.

Wow, never would've expected... [insert eye roll here]

After 35 years, Foster's Freeze in Lemoore, California is no more, and you can thank California's new $20-per-hour fast food minimum wage.

Bro, the employees thought it was an April Fools' joke!

๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Nope, sorry, you're actually no longer employed here. In fact, our restaurant doesn't even exist anymore because California is out-of-control ridiculous that an ice cream shop can't survive.

Here's the text message owner Loren Wright sent to the media:

He didn't want to ruin their Easter Sunday.

What a guy!

From ABC 30:

Monday, as California's minimum wage for fast food workers rose to $20 an hour, the Foster's Freeze in Lemoore permanently closed.

The assistant general manager, Monica Navarro, told Action News it was because of the wage increase, saying the owner told her he could not afford the new salaries โ€ฆ

Economic experts have been predicting closures and layoffs in the months leading up to the hike.

Yeah, it's not too hard to predict these things. I mean, $20 per hour is an absurd number, especially for fast food.

Mark this Foster's Freeze down as the first of many joints to shut down over this new minimum wage law in California.

Congrats to the politicians who lost these workers their jobs! pRogReSS!
