If ever there were a reason for someone to be chucked in prison and for the key to be melted down into scattered electrons, well, here it is:
The husband of the owner of a New York City day care center where a baby died after having been exposed to fentanyl was charged with two federal narcotics counts Thursday, prosecutors said. ...
Herrera Garcia is the fourth person charged. The others are his wife, Grei Mendez, 36, who owns the day care center; Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41; and Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38.
Again: Chuck them in a dank room somewhere and shut the door forever.
The defendants were allegedly "running a fentanyl mill hidden inside a Bronx daycare," according to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.
The accused criminals "maintained large quantities of narcotics, including a kilogram of fentanyl stored on top of children's playmats and large quantities of suspected narcotics in hidden compartments," the attorney's office said.
Here's one of those "hidden compartments" at the daycare:
Sick, sick stuff.
NYPD Police Commissioner Edward A. Caban said the charges reflect "abhorrent criminality," noting:
"New York City law enforcement has a very long reach, and anyone who participates in the distribution of fentanyl in our communities will be held fully accountable - no matter where they run and try to hide."
Good. Prosecute them as far as the law allows.
