A ticked father unleashed a firestorm of angry logic on the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia on Tuesday, telling them to "open the freaking schools" or to "get off the podium."
I think I speak for approximately 99% of parents in the nation when I say I agree with this man's sentiments:
"You're a bunch of cowards hiding behind our children as an excuse for keeping schools closed," the man said. "You think you're some sort of martyrs because of the decisions you're making when the statistics do not lie that the vast majority of the population is not at risk from this virus."
His tone then got just a wee bit heated as he continued.
"The garbage workers who pick up my freaking trash risk their lives every day more than anyone in this school system! Figure it out! Or get off the podium! Because you know what, there's people like me and a line of other people out there who will gladly take your seat and figure it out! It's not a high bar. Raise the freaking bar!"
The stunned board sat in silence before one woman called for the podium to be cleaned before the next speaker. As she did, the man called back, "I'll be back next time and the next time — till you open the freaking schools!"
Government types can be extremely slow in understanding, but in this case I think they got the message.
Open the freaking schools.
