Promises ... kept?
From GameStop:
WHEREAS, for the past two decades, the global gaming community has been engaged in an ongoing and increasingly petty conflict known as The Console Wars;
WHEREAS, said conflict originated in the early 2000s with the release of 'Halo: Combat Evolved' as an Xbox-exclusive title;
WHEREAS, 'Halo: Campaign Evolved' is officially coming on PlayStation in 2026 with cross-platform play;
THEREFORE, GameStop, acting under its authority as a Neutral Entity and The World's Retail Gaming & Trade-in Destination, hereby declares the official cessation of the console wars.
All claims to exclusivity are hereby dissolved. Console loyalists are instructed to cease hostilities, disband militias, and enjoy this new era of gaming.
GameStop will continue to operate as a demilitarized zone, offering hardware, accessories, and trade-ins to combatants on all sides.
Power to the players.
The White House is celebrating a GameStop marketing post that uses a joke about the "console wars" to let everyone know that the newest remake of "Halo" is being ported to PlayStation.
I'm ... not sure how to process this.

A few replies:
The "Halo" franchise is attempting to recover from the same spin that many franchises have suffered under the leadership of woke and/or money-hungry executives that don't respect their source material or their fanbase.
To that end, owner Microsoft announced Friday that it is releasing the second remake of its first "Halo" game.
Microsoft purchased "Halo" creator Bungie Studios in 2000, but Bungie managed to buy itself back in 2007. Microsoft then made a new studio, called 343 Industries, and made three new games that shared no plot and lacked the same multiplayer magic of the originals.
343 Industries remastered "Halo: Combat Evolved" and "Halo 2" to keep weary fans hooked on nostalgia bait, but it wasn't enough. Microsoft continued to make blunders, including a TV show that actively disrespected the fictional universe and Pride Month posts.
In 2024, Microsoft rebranded 343 Industries into "Halo Studios." To prove to the world that it knows how to take the franchise into exciting new directions that respect and understand the lore, it's ... making another remake.
Yes, the Console Wars are over.
But to reference a Cortana quote of T.S. Eliot, is it ending with a bang, or a whisper?
