Another cultural legend goes to his reward:
Legendary crooner Tony Bennett, best known for singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," has died, according to his longtime publicist, Sylvia Weiner.
He passed away Friday at age 96.
Bennett, a first-generation American, was born Anthony Dominick Benedetto. An omnipresent part of global pop culture for around eight decades, he began putting albums on the charts in the early 1960s and kept putting them there for essentially his entire life.
Among his most legendary hits was "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and "Rags to Riches."
Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016; he continued to work for several years until the disease left live performances and recordings too challenging.
