Governor Glenn Youngkin explains his parental rights school policy to detractors: "Children don't belong to the State. They belong to families."

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin was primarily elected because of the horrible events spurred by the Woke Left's takeover of Virginia's public schools; Loudoun County being the poster child for why these people should never be allowed within 500 yards of a school.

Youngkin is fulfilling his promises by creating commonsense parental rights policies like gendered sports teams coinciding with the sex children are assigned at birth, parents having the right to make decisions with respect to their children, and schools respecting parents' values and beliefs.

Of course the Left is unhappy about these policies, so Youngkin appeared on CNN's State of the Union and made it real simple for them:

"[P]arents have a fundamental right to be engaged in their children's lives," Youngkin said. "And, oh, by the way, children have a right to have parents engaged in their life. And we needed to fix a wrong…children don't belong to the state. They belong to families."

It's not all roses though. Youngkin waffles and says that there might still be instances where boys are using girls' restrooms, as long as the parents sign on to that decision.

"What we're not saying is that there is no accommodation. What we're saying is, parents have to be engaged in that decision. And if a child and their parent, along with administrators and teachers, choose to have accommodations for that child, they will be granted.

"If parents actually want their child to be able to change a pronoun or their name or use a bathroom, if parents choose that, then, legally, that's what the schools will do," he added.

So, the 15-year old girl that was raped by a boy wearing a skirt in Loudoun County would still very much be in danger because that boy's mother supported her trans son 150%, even to the point of blaming the girl for the rape.

Youngkin did double down on boys in dresses not being allowed to play girls' sports though.

"I do believe that it's unfair for girls to have biological boys play sports with biological girls. There are sports with segregated — with segregated sexes for those sports. And those — those sports should be honored that way… Again, there's a commonsense approach here to this. And I do think we have to respect girls as well here."

So, fair competition on the field, but watch yourself in the bathrooms.

I guess we should be thankful for the wins we get, but I continue to pray for leadership that won't buckle on this issue and for the poor girls endangered by these asinine trans policies.
