Before Canada was a totalitarian dystopia, the country used to be known for its overwhelmingly nice people, like British Columbia couple Jim Klassen and Mirjana Komljenovic.

According to North Shore News, when grill manufacturer Napoleon accidentally listed Klassen and Komljenovic‘s telephone number as the company's help line, the Canadians didn't get upset, ignore the phone, or change their number.

Instead they fielded every call.

They happened to own a Napoleon grill and liked the brand, so they made sure all those callers got the help they needed.

‘You didn't hang up — you actually talked to him,' Mirjana recalled of the first call.

‘Because he was like, well, what is it that you are looking for? Without knowing it he started becoming a customer rep.

‘That was the first phone call… that was in January, and then there was another phone call a couple days later,' she said.

Over the next few months, the couple fielded hundreds of calls from all over North America, sometimes as early as 4:30 AM.

When Napoleon found out about the mix up, they quickly fixed their help line number.

But they didn't leave Jim and Mirjana in the lurch:

‘Jim and Mirjana took it upon themselves to answer some questions as they are Napoleon grill owners, and redirect people to the right phone numbers. We didn't ask them to do this, but they jumped right in and did it anyway,' said Garry Scott, VP of marketing at Napoleon.

As a show of their appreciation, Napoleon named the couple honorary customer ambassadors and gifted them a $2,900 Napoleon Prestige 665.

Who says nice guys never win?
