After several years of record sales, June showed a another uptick in firearm purchases, after the Biden administration and Congress made moves to curtail the 2nd Amendment.
From The Washington Times:
Firearm sales were up 7.7% last month compared to June 2021, said Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting which gathers its data from the FBI National INstand Criminal Background Check System.
"This increase was due to the discussion regarding additional federal firearms legislation that customers may have viewed as detrimental to their interests even as the industry as a whole has been not wholly supportive of the final bill signed into law by President Biden," Jurgen Brauer, the firm's chief economist, said in a statement.
All told, SAAF estimated that roughly 1.5 million firearms were purchased in June.
That's the American spirit!
The government tries to ban guns and we turn around and buy more.
(And they are coming for your guns)
The jolt in sales comes after a slow spring for the industry.
SAAF estimated over a 12% year-over-year drop in firearm sales in May 2022, and a sharper plummet of nearly 21% in April 2022.
March was also challenging for firearm sales with an estimated 18% drop in gun purchases compared to March 2021.
After a historic year for sales in 2020 carried over into a hot start to 2021, the market gradually cooled from there.
SAAF did note that, though sales were declining last year in comparison to 2020, end-of-year numbers were still better than they were in 2019.
It's no surprise that more Americans are stocking up as things in the country get worse and worse.
Just a reminder that guns are holding their value a lot better than the dollar right now!
