Poor ol' Honest Abe lost his head (again!) during a D.C. heatwave.

Check out this six-foot-tall wax statue of Abe Lincoln that went viral this week. And this time, surprise, surprise, it wasn't destroyed by crazed anti-American protestors!

This time, it was Mother Nature.

According to the Washington Post, the wax statue was created by artist Sandy Williams IV and set up in Northwest Washington in February. The statue was eventually supposed to melt, but not this quickly! Wax Abe was set up near shady trees in the hopes that he would last through the summer.

However, with the temperature soaring past 100 degrees over the weekend, Honest Abe's head turned into a gooey mess. The head was removed and stored safely to save what was left, with plans to stick it back.

The artist said the statue was supposed to draw attention to the Civil War era and its aftermath. But the internet had other plans.

Oh, internet, thank you. I needed that today.
