No doubt you've seen much of the media fawning over Democratic vice president pick Tim Walz's involvement in a "gay-straight alliance" when he was a teacher in the 1990s:

You may be confused about what, exactly, a "gay-straight alliance" actually is. The clubs grew in popularity through the 1980s into the 1990s; by the time Walz was teaching "social studies" in the late '90s, the clubs were all the rage in our far-left school system.

Here's a great thread from The Babylon Bee's Joel Berry on the sort of club that Walz was directly involved in when he was a teacher:

The groups "exist to convert straight kids into queerness and recruit queer kids as activists," Berry notes, and they "sometimes lure kids in under false pretenses," as was reported in this 2022 story:

They have also been known at times to facilitate dangerous, extremist "gender transitioning" for underage children:

At times the outcome of the clubs is, you know, exactly what you might expect:

And make no mistake, these clubs are backed by higher authorities with considerable funding:

Joel's thread got slapped momentarily with a community note claiming that Walz wasn't the one who started a GSA chapter at his school, so people clarified Walz's direct role in the comments:
