A major US university just had a mass shooting attack and this is how the Washington Post has chosen to cover the alleged attacker:
So weird.
Normally, when there's a mass shooter and the gunman is identified, the media does all they can to find out what radicalized him. They go out of their way to tie him to a political agenda.
But this guy who just reportedly murdered three young men at the University of Virginia is a poor man with a troubled childhood. Just a "austere religious scholar" who went wrong.
I wonder why...
Could it possibly be that this shooting just doesn't fit the prevailing media narrative about mass shootings?
Ask yourself in these situations: What headline and coverage would this story receive if the suspected gunman were white?
