Here's a roundup of yesterday's absolute clown show involving the Epstein files. Let's talk about where things stand.

If you didn't spend all day online like I (unfortunately) did, you probably didn't see one of the most embarrassing performances by Republicans unfold in real-time.

It all started Wednesday night when Attorney General Pam Bondi promised Fox News' Jesse Waters that she had details of Epstein's crimes sitting on her desk that she planned to release on Thursday.

Watch:

All morning long, the political pundit class waited to see if details would emerge.

But when they did ... it turned into a three-ring circus:

No joke, we're talking about a man who owned an island where the elites could come and rape girls - a man who flew British princes and American presidents on his plane - and we get photos of DC Draino, Libs of TikTok, Scott Presler, Mike Cernovich, Liz Wheeler, and other right-wing social influencers smiling for the cameras while they hold up Epstein binders like they just won an award.

Commentator Mike Cernovich said, while calling critics "muppets" and dropping the F-word (how very conservative!) that this wasn't a staged photo op, but that reporters at the White House who were there for the arrival of the British prime minister had snapped some pics.

That's ... an interesting way to respond.

To make matters (exceedingly) worse, the binders were filled with information that wasn't helpful or illuminating. Take a look at some of the pages that are available on the DOJ's website.

Much of this information had already been released, making the entire spectacle seem like a poorly planned publicity stunt.

Then, adding insult to injury, the actual account for the House Judiciary Committee Republicans decided to rick-roll the American people as a joke. 👇

Yes, the official government account for Republicans in a congressional committee thought it would be funny to link to the famous Rick Astley song. In doing so, they discovered new levels of cringe.

(They have since deleted the post.)

We are talking about child rape and international human trafficking on a massive scale that involved presidents, royalty, billionaires, and A-list celebrities.

This is not a joking matter.

Understanding when memes and trollery is appropriate is essential. The punchline is everything. Goofing off like this in a moment that requires sobriety and professionalism - GIRLS WERE KIDNAPPED AND RAPED - doesn't make you funny.

It makes YOU the punchline. If you want proof, consider how the jokes are making fun of the Trump admin right now 👇

Pam Bondi claims that the FBI field office in New York withheld most of the crucial information that she had requested. She sent this letter to new FBI Director Kash Patel demanding that the FBI's SDNY branch turn over that information by Friday at 8 a.m.

Late yesterday, I learned from a source that the FBI Field Office in New York was in possession of thousands of pages of documents related to the investigation and indictment of Epstein.

Despite my repeated requests, the FBI never disclosed the existence of these files. When you and I spoke yesterday, you were just as surprised as I was to learn this new information.

Kash Patel then put out this statement on social media:

As I write this, it is now late on Friday morning. And yet ... nothing.

The way forward is to tell the truth.

Anything less is a clown show.
