Kyrie Jones of Des Moines, Iowa was taking her dog for a walk earlier this week when she noticed a neighbor's toddler throwing things out of the second-story window of their apartment building.
She ran and knocked on the door, but no one answered. She then stationed herself under the window where the 2-year-old boy was now dangling on the ledge. She called the police while she stood underneath the young child, who soon lost his grip and fell.
He kind of hit my belly a little bit. I think the adrenaline kicked in, and I didn't feel anything.
Jones held the little boy until the police arrived, and the mother eventually came outside. Police and social services are investigating, but for now, we know that the little boy is safe thanks to Kyrie Jones.
Jones, herself 33 weeks pregnant, said through tears that she could not imagine what it would have been like if she had taken her dog out just minutes later.
I am just glad I was there at the right time. As long as the baby is safe, I am good.
