What a headline:
A Blue Origin employee married to a prominent trans author has been accused of killing her elderly father with an ice axe on Election Night.
Corey Burke, 33, allegedly struck, stabbed and strangled her father, 67-year-old Timothy Burke, in a fatal attack at her $800,000 Seattle home on November 5.
Burke, a training manager at Jeff Bezos' rockets and spacecraft company, confessed to killing her father after he refused to turn off the lights, according to charging documents seen by DailyMail.com.
Just as a quick aside: Yes, Corey Burke is a "lesbian" who is married to, well, a man:
Pretty sure that just makes her straight.
This story is beyond nuts. Burke allegedly told detectives that she argued with her father about keeping the house dark and eventually realized she "could not convince her father to keep the lights off."
After that, she went and grabbed the axe:
She then tripped her father and strangled him before attacking him with the ice axe.
Burke then bit him and hit him several times in the head and side with the blunt and sharp ends of the ice axe, cops say.
Needless to say, this woman was plainly in the grip of some sort of psychotic mania. But it sounds like the trigger may have been the U.S. election, which was being counted up when the murder took place:
After emerging from the house with blood 'dripping' down her face, she confessed to police that she 'freaked out,' claiming there was 'something important about Election Day.' ...
Burke added that she had a strained relationship with her father and said she had been 'overwhelmed' on election day.
She added that she wanted to help people 'change their attachment to their parents.'
Burke's wife husband, "Samantha Leigh Allen," is "an editor at Conde Nast's transgender news website Them" (and formerly worked at the Daily Beast).
Burke herself, meanwhile, has reportedly directly confessed to the murder and has been charged with first-degree murder. She is being held on $2 million bond.
This may have just been a total psychotic break unrelated to the 2024 election. If it was related to the election, it would sadly not appear to be the first instance of violence potentially linked to last week's results:
A Minnesota dad who ranted against President-elect Donald Trump online shot and killed his wife, ex-partner, and his two sons before turning the gun on himself, according to authorities. ...
Before his rampage, Anthony Nephew had been sharing left-wing and anti-Trump posts on his Facebook account.
'My mental health and the world can no longer peacefully coexist, and a lot of the reason is religion,' Anthony Nephew wrote in July. ...
Anthony Nephew shared other political posts, including an image of former President Barack Obama, Trump, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The word 'hate' sits under Trump's face, while the words 'hope,' 'heal' and 'grow' correspond with the Democratic politicians.
Nephew reportedly had a "pattern of mental health issues" prior to the murder-suicide, although it appears they were exacerbated by the election - possibly the same as Burke.
The "tolerance and inclusion" types aren't doing too well, are they?
