I Guess It's Okay To Talk About This Now ... About Two Years Too Late
· Mar 3, 2022 · NottheBee.com

Welcome to March 2022. The magical time two years after the start of the pandemic where people are finally allowed to question the response of public health officials and acknowledge the damage of these policies.

This past Saturday, after two years of hearing conservatives say the same thing, Saturday Night Live finally decided it was okay to poke fun at the stupid Covid policies, signaling a major change in the political winds.

We've had leaks of corporate media letting the metaphorical mask slip, and now even left-wing sources are starting to admit that Covid policies have hurt children.

That brings us to The Atlantic, which published this article on Wednesday called "How Masks Get In The Way." It documents how masks get in the way of children learning how to talk, something that people on the Right have been sounding the alarm on for a solid year and a half.

Here's an excerpt from the article:

The consequences of leaving speech and language disorders untreated can be profound, Diane Paul, the director of clinical issues in speech-language pathology at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, told me. Children struggling to express themselves can get frustrated, which can lead to behavioral challenges, and they may have trouble making friends. Many kids with speech disorders struggle to learn to read, but "language becomes a medium through which we learn everything later in school," Alex Levine, a speech-language pathologist at the Learning and Development Center at the Child Mind Institute, told me. And the longer you wait to address a speech or language issue, the harder it is to do so.

Many of the parents I spoke with are frustrated that they've been asked to compromise their children's social and academic life in the name of public safety. The early years of a child's life are important. Anything that threatens to interfere with development, whether that's COVID-19 or the mitigations in place to avoid it, can feel like rolling the dice on a child's future. In one way or another, all parents of young children have been forced to gamble during the pandemic. Many parents of kids with speech delays don't like their odds.

So, of course, the left-wing publication is hedging itself. They still pretend that there's a tradeoff between education and safety, refusing to acknowledge that dropping the masks actually made very little difference in terms of safety.

But, at least they are acknowledging the masks hurt kids.

Here's a Democratic politician asking the important question:

In March 2022 this is a fair question. But I'm pretty sure that NO Democrat is going to like the answer to this question: Why did it take so long for speech therapists to speak out?

Here's the best answer:

If these therapists had loudly spoken out the Covid Karens would have eaten them alive. You would have been told that kids are resilient and that they need to sacrifice, just for a little while, in order to protect others.

Our society's treatment of kids has been absolutely tragic.

When scenes like this one are normal, you know we've gone off the deep end.

It's only now, two years too late, that people are finally seeing what we've done to kids and how the public health response to Covid has been so damaging.

Too little, too late.
