TikTok user Amanda Jones went viral recently after posting a video showing how her pilates instructor taught her to make "healthy Coke" using only sparkling water and balsamic vinegar.
Jones swears it tastes exactly like coke, and apparently, so do many people on the interwebs, because her video has sparked a vinegar drinking craze.
And while the mysterious beverage does look exactly like Coke, trust me when I tell you that after trying it for myself, it tastes exactly like sparkling balsamic vinegar.
Not exactly a flavor I typically crave, but to each his own I guess.
I know pilates instructors are not nutritionists, but I would at least expect them to have functioning taste buds (not to mention the fact that drinking straight-up vinegar is probably not actually good for you).
It turns out that sugar is a crucial ingredient in Coke, so it's hard to fake that flavor, even if you successfully figure out how to turn your sparkling water brown.
If you find yourself in the mood for a Coke, I'd recommend that you either splurge on those extra calories (who's really counting anyways?) or opt for a plain ol' Topo Chico and call it a day.
But whatever you choose to do, please, for my sake, do not drink sparkling vinegar.
