You may have guessed, but it isn't actually the rarest moment in history.

In fact, YOU CAN DO IT FOR ABOUT A DOLLAR!

All you need is a bottle of purified bottled water. DON'T get the fancy stuff that has minerals and such in it.

Put said bottle in the freezer (or outside) for awhile – someplace it won't be moved around.

Then, take it out slowly, give it a good whack, and watch as the water instantaneously turns to ice!

Here's the deal: Water molecules rely on impurities – bits of sediment, metals, or organisms like bacteria – to form ice crystals. Without them, water can be cooled to well below its freezing point and still remain in a liquid form.

Regular water from your tap probably has quite a bit of TDS (total dissolved solids). My city tap water has about 150 parts per million. With my cheap reverse osmosis system, however, I can get that down to two parts per million.

Your store-bought bottled water relies on the same reverse osmosis or distillation techniques to get rid of all the cysts, E-coli, lead, copper, PFAS, nitrates, phosphates, and other fun things that could make you sick – i.e., all the stuff that ice forms around.
