Want to go see a concert next year? Ticketmaster says you'll have to get the Covid vaccine or test negative beforehand

What the actual flowerbed? I might need to go get the Covid vaccine or at least test negative for the virus in order to go see a show next year?

Nope. I'm out.

Totally kidding. I honestly don't care what I have to do to go see a live show. At this point I'd do just about anything.

But this is actually a pretty serious issue. First, I must point out that the "testing" part of this equation is a load of junk. Sure, you can avoid the vaccine and just go get tested. But think about this: even amateur concertgoers can attend up to three Ticketmaster-worthy shows in a single summer. Are you really going to go get tested for Covid-19 THREE TIMES next summer just to see a concert? Or are you just going to cave and get the vaccine so you can go see Celine Dion, Greta Van Fleet, and the Backstreet Boys, and knock those off your bucket list once and for all?

"Here's how it would work, if approved: After purchasing a ticket for a concert, fans would need to verify that they have already been vaccinated (which would provide approximately one year of COVID-19 protection) or test negative for coronavirus approximately 24 to 72 hours prior to the concert."

I don't want to come off as an anti-vaxxer here, because vaccines are amazing, but this seems, in a way, like a nudge toward getting a vaccine for a virus that most of us know nothing about. And being the libertarian that I am, I get a little uncomfortable when ANYONE tries to nudge me into doing ANYTHING. So yeah, being that this virus only kills a very small percentage of people who get it, I find it a little suspicious that the big corporations are going to use it to nudge us all into getting the vaccine.

Another point: remember a few weeks ago—maybe months ago now, I really can't remember—when talking about stuff like this would have made you a conspiracy theorist? Well, not anymore it doesn't. Because it's reality now.

One more thing: what we are seeing is only the first example of this mandatory-vaccine-or-negative-test-and-then-you-can-do-the-thing-you-want-to-do bullbird. This won't be the last example. You've got schools, churches, restaurants, transportation, movie theaters, sporting events, shopping centers, museums...the list goes on.

So if you want to go see a concert next year, don't forget to go out and get a vaccine that you know nothing about. Good luck folks!
