Okay, here's something you don't see often: A drunk man, driving with just over the legal limit of alcohol in his system, got in a race with a speeding, lights-activated ambulance on the freeway at two in the morning. The ambulance called him in.
Out of all the bad decisions you were gonna make, Jefferson Stack, 25, of Coralville, you decided it was a good idea to race an ambulance while it was speeding down the freeway with its emergency lights on?
But he did it anyways, folks. .087 blood-alcohol level and he did it. Boy was barely drunk.
Police say 25-year-old Jefferson Stack of Coral Court was called in as a reckless driver just before 2am Wednesday as he was traveling southbound on I380 near the 8 mile marker. The reporting party, inside an ambulance, stated that he was all over the road as he tried to "drag race" their vehicle while it was on a call with lights activated.
The reporting party alleged that other vehicles were yielding the right of way to their ambulance, but Stack was not. They claimed Stack appeared impaired or distracted as he passed them.

Upon contact, Stack reportedly had red watery eyes, slowed speech, and advised that he had been drinking earlier. After performing poorly on field tests, Stack refused a PBT. A subsequent Datamaster showed his BAC at .087.
Yeah, Jefferson, you done messed up. And you could spend up to a year in jail.
Stack was charged with first offense OWI [Operating While under the Influence], a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to a year if convicted.
It's your first time, so I hope they go easy on you. However, you did race an ambulance, so...
