One of the seemingly few people actually being held accountable for incidents related to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal continued to face repercussions, as news broke on Thursday that Prince Andrew was having the title of "prince" stripped away from him and he was being evicted from his royal accommodations.
King Charles' disgraced brother has been on the receiving end of mounting backlash, having recently announced that he was giving up his "Duke of York" title and other honors. Buckingham Palace issued a formal statement on Thursday confirming that Prince Andrew was, in fact, no longer a prince.
As reported by the New York Post:
The late Queen's son will have his title stripped and now be known as 'Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,' the Palace said in a statement provided to BBC News.
Andrew will also be forced to vacate his taxpayer-subsidized royal home of more than 20 years.
Though the official statement did not mention Jeffrey Epstein, it made it clear that the allegations Andrew has denied for years eventually became too much for the royal family to ignore.
'Their majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,' the Palace statement reads.
Andrew, who continues to maintain his innocence, reportedly "did not object to the King's decision."
Yeah, that's totally what somebody would do when they're not guilty. Totally.
So, if anyone out there in the UK is up for a houseguest…
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, The Andrew formerly known as "Prince," might want to crash on your couch.
