While much has been made about multiple companies seemingly eschewing rainbow logos and overt Pride celebrations to avoid public backlash, the newspaper The Seattle Times apparently sought to shame companies for not sponsoring this year's Seattle Pride parade.

The media outlet took the time to point out that fewer companies were willing to publicly attach their names to the Pride parade … and blame it on President Trump, of course.

From the newspaper's article:

The retreat comes as many corporations have pulled out of financially supporting Pride events around the country, in some cases after years of sponsorships. Seattle Pride organizers said big-name companies may fear drawing the ire of President Donald Trump, who has launched a sweeping campaign against diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender people.

According to the paper, some previous sponsors (some of whom were named) provided various reasons for declining to help pay for the parade.

Some corporate leaders say they are weighing the possibility of legal investigations and political threats by the Trump administration against the potential for public backlash. Other companies have cited the need to tighten budgets amid uncertain economic forecasts, Seattle Pride organizers said.

Translation: Some of these companies have seen what happened to Bud Light, Target, and other brands that decided to be super gay.

Conservative commentator Ari Hoffman immediately saw through the newspaper's intimidation tactic and called on readers to take action:

Maybe, if enough sponsors bail, we can see a day at some point in the future without Pride parades.
