There's a choice before those who care about the future, and it begins by understanding how we think about the past.

The Chivalry Guild is a Catholic guy who runs an account discussing history, tradition, and Christianity. He, like me, is looking at the landscape of what we so vaguely call "conservatism" and is wondering what exactly we are conserving.

You may have noticed it lately. There are a lot of people who might be anti-woke, but they aren't exactly the type of people who want to humble themselves before God, conserve His designs, and build a society and traditions around those designs.

They seem to want a return to America of the '80s - a place where we're liberated from all those notions about duty, marriage, sexuality, tradition, legacy, and honor, but we also get to rock out and have a good time. Many of these people like the idea of "Making America Great Again."

A certain calendar has been running around featuring right-wing women in suggestive poses for a calendar as a troll of Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney. The Chivalry Guild is responding to that calendar as he asks men (and women) if they think shallow nonsense is really going to help them save their nation.

What are you fighting for, American?

Pin-up girls and drunkenness and a good time? A return to the material self-indulgence of the '90s?

If so, you deserve to lose to the woke.

You are made in the very image of God. You are fashioned for eternity. You live in a nation that was built on the message of the Gospel. "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent."

And you think you can make America great again by reverting to the depravity of 30 years ago instead of the depravity of today? The slippery slope doesn't work like that, my friends. The road to hell is very broad indeed.

Honor, virtue, chastity, temperance, patience, courage - now is the time for men with chests who understand the times. Those will be the hard men who lead us through hard times.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.

If this upsets you, then you won't make America great and your nation deserves to go the way of all before her.

Choose wisely, American.
