It's been a long time coming but it's finally happening:
Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Friday that the construction of the state's border wall has begun.
"Texas has officially started building its own border wall," Abbott tweeted...
On Thursday, the Texas Military Department (TMD) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) held a briefing to update Texans on Operation Lone Star.
"Anyone attempting to enter Texas illegally by crossing these fences will be arrested for criminal trespassing," DPS Director Steven McCraw said during the hearing. "Catch and release is not part of Operation Lone Star's mission."
As the cowboys like to say in Texas:
Seriously—Texas has the longest border with Mexico of any U.S. state. It's the location of countless illegal crossings. The fact that it hasn't been built already is baffling.
