The late singer Johnny Cash's son John Carter-Cash discussed his father's faith ahead of the release of a new documentary titled "Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon."
Carter-Cash said his father's faith has never been examined in media as it is in "The Redemption of an American Icon."
"His faith was what was important to him, and it's the truth," Carter-Cash said.
"I think some other filmmakers may feel like it distracts from the story or, or turns people off, but my dad was never one to let that stop him from professing what he believed in."
"He didn't care if he got canceled; he stood up for what he believed. It was his nature. And, I mean, what did he have to lose: He'd already hit rock bottom. He knew he had a lot to give back."
The film began its limited run in theaters on Dec. 5 and ends on Dec. 7.
