Judges rule that even in Colorado, elephants aren’t humans

Remember that radical animal activist group that almost convinced New York's Supreme Court to give an elephant personhood and human rights?

Well, they're back at it, but this time they were hoping it was the judges in Colorado who weren't smart enough to tell the difference between a three-ton elephant and a human being.

They sued on behalf of five elephants at the Cheyenne Zoo: Missy, Kimba, Lucky, LouLou, and Jambo, arguing that the elephants were prisoners and had the right to challenge their detention.

Unfortunately for the animal-rights advocates, the free-spirited culture in Colorado hasn't impaired all the rational thinking there, and the judges ruled against them.

The Colorado court said its decision 'does not turn on our regard for these majestic animals. Instead, the legal question here boils down to whether an elephant is a person,' the court said. 'And because an elephant is not a person, the elephants here do not have standing to bring a habeas corpus claim,' it said in the ruling.

The zoo was disappointed that the case made it into the courts at all and accused the group of using their elephants and these ridiculous cases to fundraise.

'It seems their real goal is to manipulate people into donating to their cause by incessantly publicizing sensational court cases with relentless calls for supporters to donate,' the zoo said in a statement.

Which makes you wonder, just where are these jokers getting their money?

Who out there is dumb enough that they can't tell the difference between an elephant and a person but still has enough expendable cash on hand to donate to these things?
