Kansas Republican Facing Censure For Being Uncomfortable With Transgender Staffer In Women's Room

A Republican congresswoman in Kansas, Cheryl Helmer, is under attack from the left because she holds to the insane, irrational, backward position that men shouldn't use the women's restroom.

Yes, this is where we are as a society.

This is how your taxpayer funds are used to portray this story:

In a sane world, the headline would be "Man caught using women's restroom."

But we are in Clown World™, not the sane world.

LGBTQ rights advocates called Tuesday for a Kansas state lawmaker to be formally censured after she publicly said she didn't want to share the women's restrooms at the Statehouse with a transgender colleague.

The Kansas House's top Republican called GOP state Rep. Cheryl Helmer's comments "unfortunate" and Democrats condemned them. The state's leading LGBTQ rights lobbyist saw "a new level of toxic bigotry" in Helmer's emailed remarks to a University of Kansas student and subsequent interviews about Democratic state Rep. Stephanie Byers.

The idea that the Republican leadership in Kansas isn't standing up for Helmer is completely disheartening.

Stephanie Byers is a man who thinks he's a woman and he has been granted the privilege of using the women's restroom. And one Republican says something about it, and that's the story.

What was it that caused the problem?

Well, Helmer sent an email where she stated she didn't appreciate sharing a restroom with a "huge" man.

From Daily Caller:

Helmer made the remarks about Democratic state Rep. Stephanie Byers, the state's first transgender lawmaker, in an April 23 email to 25-year-old University of Kansas graduate student Brenan Riffel, saying, "now, personally I do not appreciate the huge transgender female who is now in our restrooms in the Capitol," the Washington Times reported.

The Kansas Republican Party platform stated, "we believe God created two genders, male and female," according to the Times.

Riffel, who identifies as "trans-feminine," exposed the email to the Kansas Reflector, a nonprofit news organization, the outlet reported. The graduate student told the Times that Helmer's comments reflected the same rhetoric that has spewed for years.

The biggest scandal they can find is a 70-year-old woman who isn't totally on board with the transgender revolution?

Helmer doubled down on her comments Tuesday while co-sponsoring a bill to ban gender reassignment surgeries and hormone treatments for minors, the outlet reported. She said in a Monday interview that she was in the Statehouse with Byers, a mother and her young daughter, who she said was afraid of Byers.

She also said children undergoing reassignment surgeries will be in "regret" it for the rest of their lives.

"You can't lop a penis off and then expect, you know, a little boy to now live his life," she said. "He'll be in regret for the rest of his life."

Nothing that's said here is untrue.

All of this, of course, has come up in order to create a "scandal" as the Republicans in Kansas attempt to override their Democrat governor's veto of a bill preventing men from competing in women's sports.
