Las Vegas may soon have a moon-shaped hotel and if we're being honest it looks like it's going to be really hideous

Oct 19th

You may not have been aware that there is a hotel company somewhere with $5 billion to blow and a total hobby-horse about the Moon. But guess what: There is!

Space tourism is slowly becoming a reality with billionaires making seemingly regular visits to the stars and the world's first space hotel planned to make its debut in 2027. Despite the promising progress, it may take a while before space tourism is available at a more accessible price point.

So what's the next best thing in the meantime? Perhaps this new moon-shaped hotel coming to the Las Vegas Strip.

Oh, really, that's the "next best thing?" Is it? You be the judge of that. Here's a mockup of the hotel against the Dubai skyline:

Yeeughhh... that just looks weird, doesn't it? It looks like—and here I'm just spitballing—but it looks like the moon sitting in the middle of a city. And that's not a real good look.

Here's imagery of the hotel in its final resting place of Las Vegas:

Oof. It kinda looks like Las Vegas was the victim of the world's gentlest lunar impact, doesn't it? It's just uncomfortable.

You know where the moon belongs?

Space.

It's just common sense, really.
