Here's one of our NASA engineers talking about her shame of being white.
In doing this work of examining my own intentions and my own actions and their impact I can see that there's so much more that I could have done to make the projects I've led equally welcoming to black, indigenous, and people of color as the white people they have engaged.
I feel a lot of shame and regret about that. And I know without looking head on at what I've done and not done, I won't be able to do better ... as steps in my personal and professional journey to make my work more anti-racist and therefore more effective.
No wonder we currently have American astronauts stranded in space. We have important anti-racism trainings to get to!
Mars? Sometime later. First we have to tackle our white supremacy problem.
Here are all the evil white behaviors NASA wants to get rid of:
Oh man, nothing says "whiteness" like objectivity and individualism!
Like we always say... ๐
This is NASA, y'all!
We're supposed to be going to the ends of the Milky Way, yet instead we have to have these idiotic sessions making successful white engineers focus more on not hurting feelings and feeling guilty about their skin color.
If I were one of those astronauts stranded in space and I saw this video ... I'm not so sure I'd be all that gung-ho about returning to this planet.
