Though other events may have put the cold-blooded murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the back burner of public consciousness, this new development brought it back:

Gross.
The Daily Mail had more (but fortunately, not all) of the details:
Before he became the center of a case that captivated the nation, Mangione had backpacked through Asia and befriended American travelers, soccer player Christian Sacchini, and his friend.
Sacchini's friend, who wasn't named in the article, revealed that after Mangione befriended him, he sent a message on WhatsApp revealing the wild nights he had in Thailand.
One message said Mangione was 'beaten up by seven ladyboys,' and lost his phone in a taxi. A 'ladyboy' is the English translation of 'katoey,' which refers to a transgender woman and is often seen as derogatory.
Mangione had also sent a photo to Sacchini's friend of his scratched-up arm after the encounter.
No thanks, don't need to see the photo.
Mangione had apparently planned to travel with his new friends to Vietnam, but changed his mind and headed to Japan instead.
'I'm just going to Zen out and do some, do some Buddha,' he told them, according to The Times.
And then, you know, ruthlessly murder a healthcare CEO 8 months later?
Mangione is currently facing state and federal charges related to Thompson's murder. If convicted, there will be no shortage of fellas looking to rough him up in prison.
Sounds like that's right up Luigi's alley.
