A man was found sleeping in his car at a 7-Eleven parking lot (where wild things tend to happen) in Torrance, California on Aug. 16.

Police arrived and discovered the man passed out with Xanax, meth, a loaded handgun and just a measly pile of stolen mail– which included over 300 recall ballots.

Fishy, I tell ya!

Comes as no surprise, police say the man was a felon.

They also found multiple California driver's licenses and credit cards, again to no one's surprise, all in the names of other people. The county's registrar's office doesn't seem to think this is election interference since the man had other stolen mail on him.

Yep. Totally innocent here. Just minding my own business, getting high on drugs with my loaded gun, stealing mail... which happen to be election ballots.

Oops...

"There's nothing to indicate this was focused on the election," the county registrar's office told Eyewitness News.

Stolen ballots though? Isn't that exactly what election interference could be??

The ballots were sent out for the Sept. 14 recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom. Torrance Police are submitting the names and addresses found to the registrar's office so they can be re-issued and if voters in the Lawndale or Compton area haven't received their ballots yet (since they could have been easily stolen) they should contact the registrar's office.

"The election ballots, they were un-tampered with, unopened, a little over 300 of them found, primarily from addresses in Lawndale," Sgt. Mark Ponegalek said. "There were some from Compton. We're still trying to figure out where all these belonged to at this time so we're working with the Los Angeles (county) election office as well as the U.S. Postal Inspector."

The man was taken into custody but has since been released and police still have no clue how and WHY he stole the ballots in the first place.

You would think "how and why" would be their first questions, but I guess after being refunded they can't just be going around solving ALL cases. 🙄

Mail-in ballots, they said. It'll be fine, they said!
