The news today is pretty rough all around, so it's understandable that you might be tempted to want to escape into some sort of entertaining distraction to cheer yourself up—a movie, a video game what have you.

Our advice? Stay away from the metaverse, which will only bring your spirits down to a level you never thought possible:

[Mark Zuckerberg] just revealed more about his plans [for the metaverse] in a Facebook Live video...

Zuckerberg said: "You experience it and move through it as if you were really there."

The CEO then demonstrated how he imagines creating a metaverse world would happen.

He showed how his avatar could enter a blank metaverse and start creating a whole new scenario from nothing.

The visuals weren't very high tech and looked like something out of the Sims but that's something Meta will be working on.

Oh, yeah, "something Meta will be working on." I'm sure that's true. Maybe they'll eventually rise to the level of MacSoft's classic 1997 FPS "Damage Incorporated!"

The metaverse is looking weirder and weirder by the day. I'm very excited to take no part in it whatsoever!
