Mattel launches new "inclusive" version of Scrabble which is "less competitive" than the original game

You guys ever played Scrabble with a Gen Zer?

It's a terrible time, mostly because they're not allowed to be on their phone.

So now Mattel has come up with a wonderful new version of Scrabble just for Gen Z, Scrabble: Snowflake Edition.

Just kidding, it's not actually called the Snowflake Edition, though it should be. It's called Scrabble Together — how modern!

The new version of the game is "more inclusive" and "less competitive" than the original, which is perfect for those of us who get super offended by words.

So glad Gen Z and snowflakes in general will feel included in this new game. Feelings are what matters.

The new launch is a double-sided version of the famous board game — one side with the original game for those who want to stick to the long-time traditional version, and one side with a "less competitive" version to appeal to Gen Z gamers …

So what's new exactly? In addition to a dual-sided board, there are helper cards, which provide assistance, prompts and clues and can be selected to match the player's challenge level of their choice.

The player who completes 20 challenges is the winner, while the player who used all their helper cards without completing a challenge is the loser.

You had me at "helper cards."

🤣🤣🤣

"Scrabble has truly stood the test of time as one of the most popular board games in history," Ray Adler, Vice President, Global Head of Games at Mattel, said in a statement. "And we want to ensure the game continues to be inclusive for all players."

Inclusive for all players, meaning we're catering to players who are simply not good at Scrabble in the first place and kinda just would rather not play. Boy, I'm sure this new game will be super fun for us normal Scrabblers …

Looks like once again we just cannot have nice things if Gen Z is gonna be on this planet with us.

Thanks a lot, Zoomers!
