The Miami Herald ran a hit piece on DeSantis for raising money using a "fake news" site. That site was literally The Babylon Bee. πŸ˜‚

The libs over at the Miami Herald in Florida really got him this time!! That slippery DeSantis has finally been caught in his web of deceit!!

Check out this headline:

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, to discover that DeSantis, after decrying the left-wing media as "fake news," would turn around and use a fake news site himself to raise money β€” oh wait, they aren't talking about The Babylon Bee, are they?

Oh.

They actually are.

From the story:

In messages to supporters, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn't shy about labeling "fake news media" the enemy. But when it comes to raising money for his reelection bid, the Republican governor's campaign and an associated political committee have sought help from a satire website with the tagline "Fake news you can trust."

Seriously, the headline made you think that DeSantis was partnering with InfoWars or some radical actual fake news website.

But no, it's our comrades at The Bee who are being accused of being "fake news" even though the story itself acknowledges that The Bee is 100% satire.

You can't make this up!!

The website, which bills itself as "Your Trusted Source for Christian News Satire," has been described as a conservative version of the humor website The Onion. It was created in 2016 by Adam Ford but sold in 2018 to Seth Dillon, who incorporated the company in Florida. It regularly writes about DeSantis. Recent Babylon Bee stories include:

β–ͺ "Governor DeSantis Signs Declaration That β€˜The Last Jedi' Sucked," in the wake of the governor's recent feud with Disney, which owns the Star Wars franchise.

β–ͺ "Ron DeSantis Bullies Kids Into Doing Whatever They Want," after DeSantis made headlines for asking high school students to remove their masks during a press conference he gave with the students at the University of South Florida.

My favorite part of this article is that the second headline referenced is literally more accurate than the Herald's description of the event here.

DeSantis said the kids could take the masks off but said that they were allowed to leave them on if they wanted to.

The Herald is big mad for being labeled "fake news," so their solution is to spread more deceitful fake news about DeSantis?

The replies to the tweet are numerous, but let me pull out a few of my favorite highlights:

This is majorly embarrassing from a "real" newspaper like the Miami Herald. Maybe think of stories that don't make you look like complete morons.
