Not sure if you're aware, but many DMVs around the country have taken to scheduling appointments to limit the long lines usually associated with the nightmare department.
The appointments are free to make online, but getting one isn't as easy as you'd think. I had to take my 15-year-old in for his permit, and the next available appointment was two months out.

But the free market has found a way to expedite that scheduling process.
Using bots, a bunch of Miami scalpers managed to grab a whole lot of those free appointments at the DMV -- and they're now selling their appointments for $250 a pop!
And the act isn't even illegal -- at least not yet. The Miami-Dade County commissioners have a law on the table to make it illegal, but right now those scalped appointments are fair game.
But I still wouldn't buy one if I were you, no matter how tempting it might be.
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez said in a release:
We know who they are and how they operate. We will not accept any appointment obtained through system abuse. Our office is committed to ensuring that all residents have fair and equal access to services without interference from those seeking to exploit the system.
I guess we're all back to the mercies of the staff at the DMV.
