The University of Hong Kong displayed a monument called "The Pillar of Shame" which was placed to remember those who were massacred by the Chinese Communist Government in Tiananmen Square.

Hong Kong Free Press is reporting that the University ordered for the statue to be removed last week and that in the middle of the night Wednesday, the statue was taken down under cover of darkness.

In addition, there were physical barriers erected around the courtyard that held the statue, as reported by Xinqi Su and AFP News Agency.

Which is exactly what they were doing by removing the statue. They want to remove any memory of the massacre, and removing this monument is one way to do it.
