Check out these firefighters who risked their lives to pull a man and woman out of a sinking pickup truck in Connecticut:
Apparently, no one has any idea how this couple ended up 40 feet from shore. It's a generally accepted truth that vehicles don't just teleport onto Long Island Sound without human agency. Methinks whatever the reason, it wasn't good.
That mystery aside, the fire department got suited up in scuba gear and got to the scene before the truck was even halfway submerged. It only takes 2-3 minutes for your average car to sink, but the ice might have bought them additional time.
The firefighters got to the vehicle before it went under and pulled the woman to safety using their ladder truck. Due to the other occupant's size, however, they struggled to get him out the rear window.
In the end, one firefighter managed to hold onto the guy's arm as the truck sank beneath the waves, yanking him out at the last second.
