Who had Gen Z's first regime change on their 2025 Bingo card?

Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned Tuesday amid growing riots from citizens over the country's crackdown on free speech and access to information.

The country was already a powder keg amid frustrations with corruption and government tyranny, but after the government announced a social media ban on 26 different websites last week, including Facebook and YouTube, young people gathered Monday in the capital of Kathmandu by the thousands for a mass protest.

From the BBC:

...the government had justified its ban, implemented last week, in the name of tackling fake news, hate speech and online fraud.

Police attempted to disperse the protesters with non-lethal measures, but reportedly switched to live rounds, killing 19 people. Protesters quickly shifted to all-out rioting from that point forward.

In what might be my favorite line about Gen Z in world news history, the BBC writes,

A government minister said they lifted the ban after an emergency meeting late on Monday night to 'address the demands of Gen Z'.

The government attempted to reverse the ban, but Gen Z wasn't having it. They continued their rampage, torching the parliament building, along with the homes of top politicians.

[Warning: Violence]

The wife of former Nepali Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, succumbed to injuries when their house was set on fire. I won't show that video here.

After resigning, Prime Minister Oli fled the country in a helicopter. Kathmandu's mayor immediately threw him under the bus, telling Gen Z that "from here onwards, it is your generation that must lead the country."

I guess the world will get to see how Gen Z governs a nation now.
