It's good to see decent, honest, common-sense lawmaking continuing its slow and steady march across much of the United States:
New Hampshire bill that would ban transgender athletes in grades 5-12 from teams that align with their gender identity is headed to the governor's desk.
The Republican-led Senate voted 13-10 along party lines Thursday in favor of a bill that would require schools to designate all teams as either girls, boys or coed, with eligibility determined based on students' birth certificates.
Supporters "said they wanted to protect girls from being injured by larger and stronger [male] athletes." This is, needless to say, a very real danger when you allow boys and men to compete against women:
One state Democrat, on the other hand, thinks that the truly threatened demographic is ... well, you can guess:
While this gesture of protection may seem valiant, we say no thank you. If you really want to protect girls, protect the marginalized transgender girls.
Uh huh.
Note that New Hampshire was recently humiliated after it allowed a man to snatch away a girls championship title. I wonder if that had something to do with this?
Meanwhile, Democrats in New Hampshire are not always totally in lockstep when it comes to the gender insanity:
The bill now heads to Republican Gov. Chris Sununu's desk. He hasn't indicated his thoughts on the bill.
Hopefully he's not a squish.
