NYC Council wants to remove statues of Washington, Jefferson, and Columbus. Remember how the media mocked Trump in 2017 for saying this would happen?

Y'all knew this was coming. It was written on the wall the moment they started taking down all those Confederate statues a few years ago.

Yes, it's finally time, folks; and what a better city to make the move than The Liberal Utopia of New York.

New York's City Council…is now spending some of its time advancing a plan that could kill off monuments honoring figures such as George Washington.

The Democratic-led council's Cultural Affairs Committee is set to hold a public hearing Tuesday on a proposal to yank artworks from city property dedicated to historical figures such as George Washington, Peter Stuyvesant and Christopher Columbus because of their controversial pasts.

"Because of their controversial pasts."

Like, you mean the 1700s? Okay. Or in Columbus' case, the 1400s. This is the progression of leftism, folks: Tear down the history and continue to destroy the culture.

Remember how Trump (and many others) warned that this would happen, six years ago in 2017, and got mocked for it relentlessly by people like "comedian" John Oliver?

Yeah, you didn't see that clip because the media deceptively edited it to make it sound like Trump was praising the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, then Biden used the "fine people" comment as his entire justification for running against Trump.

Here's New York's Marxist criteria for "controversial past," again, these figures having lived centuries ago.

The Cultural Affairs Committee's upcoming hearing involves legislation that would require the city's Public Design Commission to publish a plan to remove works of art on Big Apple property "that depict a person who owned enslaved persons or directly benefited economically from slavery, or who participated in systemic crimes against indigenous peoples or other crimes against humanity."

So because Columbus discovered the Americas and had some run-ins with the local cannibal population, he's bad, and any statue of him deserves to be taken down. Got it.

And in Washington's case, he had slaves, so he is also bad — as if it was only the bad people who had slaves for thousands of years before Europeans outlawed the practice and worked to remove it worldwide. Got it.

Don't forget, just two short years ago, the same city council removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson from their chamber.

They apparently weren't done there, as we all should've expected.

I love this part of the proposed legislation:

If the commission determines that a statue or monument honors a person who committed crimes against humanity but votes not to remove the artwork, it would require the city to install an "explanatory plaque" about the misdeeds of the historical figure, according to the bill authored by Brooklyn Council Sany Nurse and co-sponsored by 16 other lawmakers.

"This bill would also require the Department of Transportation to consult with the Department of Education to install plaques on sidewalks or other public space adjacent to schools that are named after a person that fits the criteria," Nurse said in a memo explaining the bill.

I would love to see one of these plaques, and I absolutely cannot wait to show you one here once they arrive. The literary genius of some of these leftists is something special, isn't it?

There are more than a half-dozen monuments on city property honoring slave-holder Washington, also America's first president and revolutionary hero — including in Washington Square Park and Union Square Park.

Peter Stuyvesant, a Dutch governor, early New York settler and a slaveholder, has a statue in Stuyvesant Park, and prestigious Stuyvesant High School is named after him.

Other famous slaveholders who have schools in the city named after them include John Jay (CUNY's John Jay College) and Dewitt Clinton (Dewitt Clinton HS).

Yeah, the way New York City is trending right now, with people in the streets protesting illegal immigration and practically begging to be labeled right-wing, I think this is perfect timing to go and tear down monuments such as these. Keep poking the bear, New York City "progressives," and you'll see what happens.
